The Inaccuracies in the Zillow Zestimate

There are a ton of inaccuracies in the Zillow Zestimate. When you look on Zillow, you will see their estimated value of a home called the Zestimate. These numbers are usually way off from the typical home value. Sometimes they have it too high, and sometimes they have it too low.

Zillow pulls data from public records. However they do not compare like minded homes with each other. They do not know the finishes of one home compared to another. They only use numbers for homes in the area. Maybe your neighborhood is selling in the high $300,000, but the neighborhood next door sells in the low $200,000 range. An expert, like us, will know not to compare homes in those 2 neighborhoods. However a computer program will not.

Even the CEO of Zillow sold his home for approximately 40% less than the Zestimate!
