Veterans Day is this Saturday, 11/11.  I am so grateful to our nation’s Veterans. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.  Below is a list of local events and discounts.

Events

Veterans Day Parade, Marietta — The 13th annual Marietta Veterans Day Parade takes place on Saturday, November 11th. The parade begins at 11:00 am.

Veterans Day Parade, Cartersville — The Vietnam Veterans of Bartow County will host a Veteran’s Day Parade on Saturday, November 11th, beginning at 9:30 am in downtown Cartersville.

Veterans Day Candle Light Ceremony, Woodstock-Are hosting a candlelight ceremony on November 11th, at 7:00 pm.

Veterans Day Ceremony, AcworthThis year’s keynote speaker will be City of Kennesaw Mayor, Derek Easterling. Mayor Easterling enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1980 and served as a submariner, where he rapidly advanced his career. November 11th at 2:00 pm. 

Veterans Day Parade, Dallas — It will be on Friday, November 10that 11:00 am, in front of City Hall.

Sandy Springs Veterans Day Tribute It will be on Friday, November 10th, starting at 11:30 am. The celebration to honor those who serve and served America will be at the Veterans Memorial, located at the Concourse Corporate Center next to the Queen Building (Building Five).

Freedom Ball — The Georgia Veterans Day Association Inc. hosts the 2017 Freedom Ball, starting at 6:00 pm on November 11th in the Oceans Ballroom at Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker St. NW. Tickets are $75 and may be purchased at freedomball@georgiaveteransday.org or visit the PX Store to purchase. The keynote speaker is Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, MOH, USMC (Ret.)

Cumming Veterans Day Ceremony –The event will be at the Cumming Veterans War Memorial, 301 Veterans Memorial Boulevard (next to the Cumming Police Department).  It will on November 10th, at 11:00 am. Planned by local veterans and school groups, it includes live music, a rifle salute, and other patriotic displays. The city displays its Avenue of Flags, featuring almost 250 American flags. Each flag on the avenue represents at least one deceased veteran from the community.

Kennesaw Military Luncheon —Noon to 2:00 pm on November 10th.  Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive, Kennesaw. North Cobb American Legion Post 304 and the City of Kennesaw are hosts. No ID required. Free and open to active military and veterans. Info: Kennesaw Parks and Recreation at 770-422-9714.

Gwinnett Veterans Day Ceremony — County administrator presides and Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash is speaking at 11:00 am on November 11th at the Fallen Heroes Memorial, Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville 30046.

Stockbridge Veterans Recognition Luncheon. — 11:30 am on November 10th, at Merle Manders Conference Center, 111 Davis Road, Stockbridge. The luncheon will begin immediately following the 10:00 am Stockbridge Veterans Parade. Veterans and their guests will enjoy a guest speaker, drill team demonstrations, and musical performances. For veterans and one guest, luncheon registration is due by November 10th.

Applebee’s — Veterans and active duty military receive a free meal from a limited menu, on November 11th.

Back Yard Burgers –On November 11th, active duty service members and veterans get a free Back Yard Classic Burger.

Bakers Square— Veterans and active duty military get a free breakfast from a set menu on November 11th.

Bar Louie – On November 11th, veterans and active military personnel get a free flatbread or burger.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse — All service members can enjoy a complimentary entree up to $12.95 by presenting a military ID or proof of service on November 10th and 11th.

Black Angus Steakhouse — Veterans and active duty military get an 8 oz. Top Sirloin steak dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli for a discounted price on November 11th.

Bob Evans — Veterans and active military personnel receive a free meal from a select menu on November 11th.

Bonanza Steakhouses — Veterans and active duty military get a free buffet on November 11th.

Bruegger’s Bagels — Veterans and active duty military members get a free small drip coffee on November 11th at participating locations.

Burntwood Tavern — Veterans and active military get a free lunch or dinner on November 11th.

 Calhoun’s — Veterans and active duty military get a free meal on November 11th.

 California Pizza Kitchen – Veterans and active military receive a free entrée from a special menu on November 11th.

Chevys Fresh Mex — On November 11th from 11:00 am-10:00 pm, veterans and active military personnel get a complimentary Fresh Mex 3-Item Combo.

Chipotle— Active duty, National Guard, and retired military, military spouses with ID, and veterans get a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deal from 5:00 pm. to close on November 7th.

Chuck E. Cheese’s — Military veterans get one free personal 1-topping pizza on November 11th.

Cicis Pizza — Get a free pizza buffet with Military ID on November 11th.

Cracker Barrel — Veterans get a complimentary slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake on November 11th.

Denny’s — Active, inactive and retired military personnel get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam on November 10th, from 5:00 am to noon.

Dunkin’ Donuts — Veterans and active duty military get a free donut on November 11th at participating locations.

El Fenix — Active duty and retired military members get a free meal from a select menu on November 11th.

Famous Dave’s — On November 11th, former and current military personnel will receive a free Two Meat Salute.

Farmer Boys — Veterans and active duty military receive a free Big Cheese cheeseburger on Friday, November 10th.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill — Active duty military and veterans get a free lunch or dinner entrée on November 10th at participating locations.

Gatti’s Pizza — Veterans and active military members will receive a free buffet or a free medium 1-topping pizza for carryout on November 11th.

Glory Days Grill — Veterans get a free appetizer or a regular order of boneless or grilled boneless wings on November 11th.

Golden Corral — Golden Corral Restaurants’ Military Appreciation Night free dinner will be available on November 13th, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Military retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard and Reserves are all welcome.

Green Mill Restaurant and Bar — Veterans and active duty military get a free meal on November 11th.

Greene Turtle — Veterans and active duty military receive a free meal up to $12 on November 11th.

Hamburger Stand — Veterans and active duty military get a free hamburger, regular fries, and a small Pepsi on November 11th.

Hickory Tavern — Veterans and active duty military get 50% off food and non-alcoholic beverages from a fixed menu on November 11th.

Hooters — Veterans and active duty military get a free meal from a select menu at participating locations on November 11th.

IHOP — On November 10th, participating restaurants offer veterans and active duty military free Red, White and Blue pancakes.

JJ’s Red Hots — Veterans and active duty get a free meal including unlimited hot dogs, sausages, sides and non-alcoholic drinks all day on November 11th.

Krystal — Participating locations will provide a free sausage biscuit to each person who presents a military ID from 6:00 am to 11:00 am on November 11th.

Krispy Kreme —  Free doughnut and coffee will be fiven to veterans on November 11th. 

Little Caesars — Veterans and active military members receive a free $5 Lunch Combo from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on November 11th. 

Logan’s Roadhouse — Veterans and active duty military get a free entree from a special menu on November 11th from 11 am-4 pm.

Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ — During the month of November, active duty and veteran military personnel get 20% off. On Veterans Day, active duty military and veterans get a complimentary dessert on top of the 20%.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant — Veterans and active duty military will receive two complimentary entrees on November 11th, one for themselves and one for their significant others at participating locations.

Max & Erma’s – On November 11th, participating locations are offering veterans and active military personnel a free Best Cheeseburger in America.

Menchie’s —  Veterans and active military personnel get their first 6 ounces of frozen yogurt for free on November 11th. 

Mimi’s Cafe — Veterans or active duty military personnel can select from a special menu on November 11th for free. Drink purchase required.

 O’Charley’s – Veterans and active duty service members get a free $9.99 entree on November 11th. 

On the Border — Active and retired members of the military get a free combo meal on November 11th. 

Outback Steakhouse – All active and retired service members a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage on November 11th. Additionally, November 12th through November 16th, military members will receive 20% off their check and, beginning November 17th, military will receive 10% off their check.

Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant — Veterans and active duty service members will receive a 25% discount on their bill, excluding alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on Saturday, November 11th and Monday, November 13th.

Red Lobster — Veterans, active duty military and reservists get a free appetizer or dessert from a limited menu on November 11th.

Red Robin – Veterans and active duty military get a free Red’s Tavern Double Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries on November 11th.

Ruby Tuesday — Veterans, active duty and reserve service members get a free appetizer on November 11th.

Shari’s Cafe and Pies — Current and former military get a free pancake breakfast all day on November 11th.

Shoney’s — Veterans and active duty service members get a free All You Care To Eat breakfast from 6:00 am – 11:00 am on November 11th.

Sizzler — Sizzler offers active duty military and veterans a free lunch from a limited menu on November 11th until 4 pm.

Spaghetti Warehouse — From November 10th through November 12th buy one entrée and get the second entrée free. Coupon required.

Tap House Grill — Active, inactive and retired military personnel get a complimentary meal on November 11th.

Texas Roadhouse — Texas Roadhouse locations nationwide will offer veterans a free lunch on November 11th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Offer is good for active duty, retired or former U.S. military.

Village Inn — Veterans and active military personnel receive a free Inn-Credible V.I.B. Breakfast on November 11th.

White Castle — Veterans and active duty military receive a free combo meal on November 11th.

Wienerschnitzel — Veterans and active duty military receive a free Chili Dog, small fries and a small drink on November 11th.

Wild Wing Cafe — Veterans eat for free from select items on November 11th at participating locations.

World of Beer – All veterans and current service members receive a free select draught beer or $5 off your check on November 11th.

Yard House — Veterans and active duty military receive a complimentary appetizer on November 11th.

Veterans Day Travel & Recreation Discounts

Brides Across America — Registrations are being taken for November 9th by Impression Bridal Store, 501 Roberts Court, Kennesaw for its “Operation Wedding Gown Event.” Free wedding gowns are given to military and first-responder brides.

Free car washes — Through Grace for Vets, veterans and service personnel may receive free car washes on November 11th at select businesses in Georgia. Check for metro Atlanta locations here.

Harley-Davidson Museum — The Harley-Davidson Museum is offering free admission to active military, veterans and their families on November 10th, 11th, and 12th in honor of Veterans Day.

Main Event — Veterans and active duty military play and eat for free on November 11th from open to 5:00 pm.

Southampton Inn – During the month of November, veterans and active duty military receive a room rate of $125 per night.

World of Coca-Cola — Active duty, reserves and retirees get free admission year-round, and November 2th through November 12th, members of the Armed Forces may also purchase up to four half-price general admission tickets for their friends and family.

Six Flags Over Georgia: Military Appreciation Days. Free tickets on November 11th and 12th for current (active) military members and up to three dependents. If a military service member is deployed, a spouse and up to three dependents can receive free admission with a current military ID card. Additional tickets for military members and retired military veterans may be purchased at the front gate for 50 percent off. All admission tickets must be purchased at the front gate to receive these discounts, and a valid military ID card is required.

American Family Care — Military veterans get a free flu shot on November 11th.

Army & Air Force Exchange Service — From November 10th to 16th, all authorized Exchange shoppers can enjoy military-exclusive savings on electronics, apparel, appliances and more. Shoppers can also enjoy special deals at Exchange restaurants and Express locations.

Dollar General — Veterans, active military and their immediate family members get an 11% discount on qualifying purchases both in stores and online on November 11th.

Enterprise Car Sales — Active duty military members, veterans and their dependents get a Firestone Prepaid Maintenance Package with any used vehicle purchase during the month of November.

Goodwill — On November 11th, Goodwill offers 50% off all donated apparel with military ID.

Grace for Vets — Car washes from around the world who join this program offer free car washes to veterans and service members on November 11th.

Great Clips – On November 11th, customers who come in for a service can get a free haircut card to give to their favorite veteran. Veterans can also receive a free haircut or get the free haircut card. Haircuts are redeemable until December 31st.

Home Depot — Home Depot offers a 10% discount to all veterans on November 11th. Home Depot offers the 10% discount year round to for active duty and retirees.

Publix — Veterans, military personnel, and their families save 10% on groceries on November 11th.

Rack Room Shoes — Military personnel and their dependents get a 10% discount off entire purchase on Veterans Day, November 11th.

Sleep Number — Through November 19th, active and veteran military members will receive exclusive discounts on Sleep Number products. Save up to $700 on select Sleep Number mattresses.

Sport Clips — Participating locations are offering veterans and active duty service members free haircuts on November 11th. 

Thorlos –Active and retired military get 35% off all products on Thorlo.com on November 10th, 11th and 12th. Promotion code required.

TOPS — Veterans and active military personnel receive an 11% discount off of a total order on November 11th. 

Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us — Customers with a valid military ID will receive 15% off in-store purchases from November 4th through November 11th.

Tractor Supply Co. — All active and former military get a 15% military discount on purchases on November 11th. 

Walgreens — Veterans and military personnel, as well as their family members, with a Walgreens Balance Rewards card get a 20% discount on November 11th.
