This month’s business spotlight is shining bright on Independent Grounds in Kennesaw. Independent Grounds Cafe is a coffee shop with heart that serves up great coffee, while also employing adults with special needs. By highlighting this under-employed population, Independent Grounds hopes to be an inspiration to other employers. Providing a high quality product along with great service from employees who happen to have special needs can be an incredible asset rather than a liability. Lorna Heid is the proud owner of this yummy coffee shop. As a mother of a daughter with special needs, she had a personal interest in providing jobs for this deserving community. Independent Grounds Café in Kennesaw opened their doors for business in February 2018.
Stop by and join Independent Grounds Cafe every other week for story time, followed by a free 1/2 hour music class for the kids! They also host Coffee & Canvas nights. It’s a few hours of coffee, painting, and fun! Occasionally, they have live music from various local artists.
If you would like to host a private event, Independent Grounds Café can accommodate you! Anything from work meetings, charitable gatherings, interviews, Bible Studies, Baby Showers, Wedding Showers or group meet-ups.
