October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Paulding County Health Department is helping local women take an important step toward protecting their health.
On Tuesday, October 6, from 1:00–5:00 p.m., the health department will host Think Pink Paulding, a breast cancer awareness and prevention event featuring FREE clinical breast exams.

What to Expect
In addition to free clinical breast exams, attendees can enjoy breast health information, refreshments, door prizes, games, educational resources, and more.
Clinical breast exams will be available on a walk-in basis, although eligibility requirements apply. Women ages 40–64 may qualify, and women under 40 who are experiencing symptoms of breast cancer may also be eligible.
Those interested are encouraged to call 770-443-7881 ahead of time to confirm eligibility and schedule an appointment.
Don’t Let Lack of Insurance Stop You
Women who are uninsured are still encouraged to reach out. According to the health department, some women may qualify for its Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP), which may provide access to a mammogram. Staff can help determine eligibility or recommend other available options.
Early detection matters. The health department reports that 134 deaths in Paulding County were attributed to breast cancer from 2020 through 2025. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and regular screenings can play an important role in detecting it earlier.
The event is designed to make preventive care more accessible while giving women the opportunity to receive an exam in a supportive and private environment.
